Irish Chamber of Commerce (Singapore) Elects New President and Board Members

Singapore, February 6: At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Irish Chamber of Commerce (Singapore) held on Tuesday February 4, Mr. Allan Schouten, Managing Director of PM Group’s Asia-Pacific business unit, was unanimously voted in as President for 2014.

The AGM, kindly hosted in the Residence of his Excellency and Patron of the Irish Chamber of Commerce, Ambassador Joe Hayes, was well attended by Chamber members and members of the Irish business community in Singapore.
Mr. Schouten, who is a Main Board Director with PM Group, has stated that his aim as President is to ensure maximum benefit for members. “My focus will be on increasing business and networking opportunities for our members and sponsors and to grow and diversify our core industry sectors.” The President also highlighted a focus on young professionals in the region and a commitment to continue to execute high class, industry specific focused events.
Outgoing President Mr. Felimy Greene, who chaired the evening’s proceedings, gave his full support to Mr. Schouten.
“Allan has made an outstanding contribution to the Irish Chamber of Commerce as an active board member and most recently as Vice President. His passion for Ireland and for Irish business interests in Singapore and the wider region are unfaltering. I am certain that he will continue to grow the organisation and ensure its position as a leading forum for business networking in Singapore, while strengthening business ties between Ireland and Singapore”, said Mr. Greene.
The Chamber also welcomed two new members to the Board, Mr. Paddy Flynn, Consultant with the Fry Group, and Dr. Maybelle Tan, Director and founder of the Belle Clinic, Singapore. The following board members were re-elected; Felimy Greene, Conor Mc Coole, Niamh Byrne, Colm McCarthy, Siobhán Hamilton, Steve Keane, David Monaghan and Alan Stone.
The Board thanked two outgoing board members, Brian McGirr and Paraic McGrath for their commitment and support over the years.
